A word from Jo
Spring – a time when warm air is colliding with cold air masses. Turbulent, unpredictable and exciting. Often surprising us with storms and cold snaps, and flashes of warmer moments and sunshine.
I think it is always a surprise when the weather brings these unpredictable moments, especially because we all secretly harbour a fantasy of spring being orchards in blossom, cool green grass underfoot with the sun’s warm rays on our shoulders.
For our 2024 Limited Edition Spring Seasonal Gin, we wanted to tap into this collective dream and fantasy.
With jasmine flowers, green apples and a hint of lemon, we are wanting to awaken your senses and take you on a walk through that mythical blossoming orchard.
Let’s celebrate the Spring we carry in our hearts.

Congratulations to our Winning Artist – Alex Downey
I’m a graphic designer and art director from Wellington originally, but recently moved to work remotely from Gisborne for the surf, sun and lifestyle. I love getting out in nature and making the most of what New Zealand has to offer.
My day job is mostly large campaign work so this was a great excuse to get back to basics and create something simple and beautiful for this amazing competition.
When I read the brief of ‘in tune and connected to the world around them’ my thoughts went straight to the Aurora Australis (or Southern Lights).
Their beauty and colours have always attracted me and their movements create an almost symphony in the sky. Additionally their fleeting, seasonal, New Zealand specific nature felt perfect for a Kiwi, limited release seasonal gin.
I wanted to create a bitmap abstraction that nods to the lights but also feels like a beautiful piece of contemporary artwork at the same time. Something that is striking compared to other labels, stands out on the black bottle and feels bespoke to Juno Gin.
